Hot Chocolate Bar from Harry Potter party

This hot chocolate bar was a special request by the birthday boy who had chosen all the ingredients himself and also waited patiently till the birthday party to sprinkle them on his hot cocoa!! The bar is part of the Harry Potter themed birthday that I will be posting soon.bar1The beautiful sign for the bar and labels for jars and bottles that you see here were hand-calligraphed by a brilliant fellow vendor and also my dear friend Sadaf from Scarletscrollstudio! Sadaf works out of her studio in her Arizona home. Mostly self-taught she had endeavored in variety of  art techniques and media, including but not limited to calligraphy, painting, watercolors, sketching, digital art, mosaics, ebru, silk painting and embroidery. Her etsy shop showcases her original work and she also create custom projects. I love working with her and especially this project was really fun since like me, she is also a Harry Potter fan! We exchanged couple of pictures and she took it from there and created this awesome design that totally complemented the party! bar2bogtoppingsThe backdrop was the beautiful sign for chocolate bar along with references to when the hot cocoa or hot chocolate was mentioned in the book series. Assortment of mason jars and glass containers with labels were used to hold the condiments for the milk cocoa. This chocolate bar was one big hit! The kids enjoyed looking at labels, pictures and quotes while making their hot drink. Almost all of them were HP fans so that made everything worthwhile!hotchocolatesignbarquotesbarforcollageI am not a big fan of disposable cups, but the porcelain or china mugs did not seem like a good idea in the excited hands of party-enjoying kids. Up untill this point, I had not figured out how to fit the quotes from the books in the decor. The flexibility with the paper cups gave me the idea to do just that! I looked up for quotes from books and on google. Some I printed as they were, some I typed in different fonts, all in squares and rectangles and then tea stained a few of them. I wrapped the coffee cups in the brown craft paper and pasted the printed quotes on them. The transformation looked great!dsc_0010cups4

I love the Harry Potter theme 🙂 and I love hot chocolate bars! Hope you liked it too!

Hi and welcome to my blog!

My name is Riffat and I am the writer behind this blog. Through this blog I share many things I am enthusiastic about – my curated items from old era, passion for tea and tea parties, design and décor, DIY projects. I specifically like to create themed and seasonal parties incorporating vintage treasures. I am married to an awesome guy who has {a good case of} wanderlust and is a grand but healthy foodie. Occasionally I will be journaling and sharing his experiences in travel, recipes and restaurant reviews. On my blog you will also get to meet our 3 amazing boys – the oldest is neuro-diverse and his being on the spectrum has given a different and incredible meaning to our family! I would be a very different person without him. Besides enjoying my family and this blog, I am a full-time speech and language pathologist.

We recently moved to Dallas from Arizona. Back there, I ran a vintage china rental and sales business. I had the pleasure of working with some amazing vendors in the event industry and got featured on many international and national blogs. I started blogging specific to my collection but recently switched to life style blogging to touch more aspects of life.

Originally from Pakistan, I am a multicultural and multilingual person and enjoy diversity to its fullest. I welcome new things and ways and learn from them but believe in restoring and preserving as well. I love people who inspire each other, are successful holistically, spread positive vibes and make a difference in this world for themselves and individuals around them. Overall, I strive to be a very well-balanced person and this blog plays some part in achieving that!

I absolutely love to team up with creative minds! Feel free to contact me for style consultation, photo shoots, vintage & antique articles, tea parties and hand-made items. I also do product reviews and feature items on my blog. I have a small shop on etsy featuring my collection and hand-made items.
