Playing You Part in Quarantine Economy! #standwithsmall

Quarantine led by Covid-19 is a very humbling experience for everyone in the world! It has brought all living mankind at one level and unlike in a war, where half the world is against the other half, we are blessed to be all on the same side and against the same thing. All humans are undergoing the same ups and downs of life, irrespective of social, religious, cultural inclinations or geographic locations.

While for some of us it is a great break form our busy life and it has abruptly stopped us from the time scale of “New York Minute” to a relaxing, reflecting and re-charging repose, some others among us are impacted in few other ways. Other than being part of the statistics for someone or their loved one of having the virus with or without its fatal complications, a serious impact is the economic injury caused by this halt in life. Among many victims include small businesses. Etsy, which is a community of artisans, collectors and creatives launched the campaign #StandWithSmall to support their businesses. This gesture has improved the morale of so many owners of specialty businesses! I am writing this blogpost to support the campaign.

Pretty much everyone knows Etsy and quite a few of artists, crafters, and connoisseurs around the world use the platform to run their business and provide unique amazing items to their clients. You can find pretty much anything here – physical, digital, custom-made, hand-crafted! During this lockdown, all the shops of Etsy are open and conducting business. Actually, some of the creatives have done a great job of providing the community with the tools to deal with the epidemic. For example, the ones adept with sewing are producing protective masks, making a rare item available which is otherwise in shortage. I specially loved this masks for kids!

There are so many moms-to-be that are in quarantine, who otherwise pampered by family and friends are actually feeling lonely, going through this beautiful phase on their own. If you know someone who is expecting, a thoughtful gift like from the shop will be a great idea!! I love this beautiful mom-to-be gift.

Readers are probably happy in this time and trying to get to their to-be-read lists!! Etsy has amazing selection of classic and rare editions like this vintage print of Emma by Jane Austen which is mine and many other book lovers’ favorites of all times.

Somebody you know is bound to have a birthday during this quarantine. With social distancing in effect, you may not be able to give a birthday hug but you sure can make it memorable by giving this Quarantine birthday shirtt!

Mother’s Day is around the corner! What a great time to get something unique for your mom, grandma or any other woman who is a mother! I found this beautiful gift basket that you can order now and have it delivered in time for the Mother’s Day!

Many of us have dreamt of starting a business, or turning our passion into something profitable. You could be good at teaching, talking, sewing, baking. Even if you are working out of home, it is a good time to think about the side hustle you always wished you had time to! Start a YouTube channel, a blog, a business to sell products that you are good at making. It is a good time to build your resume, website, social media followership and do the homework to have the face of the business ready. After you know what you are getting your hands in, it’s a good time to come up with a name and logo. Etsy has amazing vendors who can provide beautiful logos.

Staying home with kids is a tough one for all the moms! Kudos to all homeschooling souls – we now understand how hard you work to keep kids engaged and educated. For those of us first-timers at homeschooling and virtual learning, this interesting Junior Archaeologist Kit will keep your kids busy for hours to come!!

As a tea drinker, teas are always on my shopping list! They are great to sip on and make lovely gifts! With all the schedule upset during the lockdown, with weekends and weekdays confusion muddling up a sense of time, sleep is a reported as a problem for many. Herbal teas like these can be very useful to calm our nerves and help in getting sound sleep.

We all talk about changing the décor of the home, buying a unique piece of furniture, we keep on pinning the images on Pinterest boards but we all get busy and the ideas get lost. This is a good time to organize the ideas, start the project we wanted to for years, or catch up and complete the ones which were started but became victim of our busy lives. How about a beautiful provincial buffet to lift up your dining room?

Etsy is full of many rare and beautiful merchandise created by small businesses. While the economy is impacted during this quarantine, those who are able to, can support the it by buying from these vendors. As you are helping others you can buy gifts, express your love to those you are not able to see, decorate your room, and I will go as much as to say do shopping for Christmas, upcoming birthdays and new babies. Most of us are so busy and tired in our lives and end up doing last minute shopping, buying whatever is available for important people in our lives. We can use this break to spend time on quality gifting!

Stay safe, stay healthy and stay home! And isn’t this stay home shirt cute!!

About Author

Hi and welcome to my blog!

My name is Riffat and I am the writer behind this blog. Through this blog I share many things I am enthusiastic about – my curated items from old era, passion for tea and tea parties, design and décor, DIY projects. I specifically like to create themed and seasonal parties incorporating vintage treasures. I am married to an awesome guy who has {a good case of} wanderlust and is a grand but healthy foodie. Occasionally I will be journaling and sharing his experiences in travel, recipes and restaurant reviews. On my blog you will also get to meet our 3 amazing boys – the oldest is neuro-diverse and his being on the spectrum has given a different and incredible meaning to our family! I would be a very different person without him. Besides enjoying my family and this blog, I am a full-time speech and language pathologist.

We recently moved to Dallas from Arizona. Back there, I ran a vintage china rental and sales business. I had the pleasure of working with some amazing vendors in the event industry and got featured on many international and national blogs. I started blogging specific to my collection but recently switched to life style blogging to touch more aspects of life.

Originally from Pakistan, I am a multicultural and multilingual person and enjoy diversity to its fullest. I welcome new things and ways and learn from them but believe in restoring and preserving as well. I love people who inspire each other, are successful holistically, spread positive vibes and make a difference in this world for themselves and individuals around them. Overall, I strive to be a very well-balanced person and this blog plays some part in achieving that!

I absolutely love to team up with creative minds! Feel free to contact me for style consultation, photo shoots, vintage & antique articles, tea parties and hand-made items. I also do product reviews and feature items on my blog. I have a small shop on etsy featuring my collection and hand-made items.
